Description
A spinning circle is a playground equipment consisting of a circular or ring-shaped platform that rotates horizontally around a central axis. The platform is typically slightly tilted/slanted. Children can run along the inside or outside of the ring to make it spin, then hold on and enjoy the rotating motion. Unlike traditional merry-go-rounds (roundabouts), it is powered entirely by the children's own movement rather than being pushed from outside. The slanted surface allows for running, walking, balancing, and sitting while spinning. It is suitable for multiple children simultaneously.
The equipment can be used by people with mobility impairments, as it can be operated simply by sitting and shifting body weight to create rotation.
Accessibility and safety considerations: This equipment involves significant rotational movement and requires good balance and coordination. It may require caution for people with balance disorders, vestibular issues, or motion sickness susceptibility. The centrifugal force can be substantial when spinning at higher speeds, which may cause falls or dizziness. Users should be aware of the potential for nausea and disorientation, particularly when first using the equipment or after extended spinning.
