A axial-flow pump involves an in-line propeller directly installed in the suction pipe. The propeller is driven by a sealed motor or from outside behind a right-angle angle pipe.

These can be used to process large amount of water, in case of flooding or to catch emerging aquifer during construction work for instance.

An axial flow pump used to catch water from a nearby canal and raise its level towards agricultural fields for irrigation purposes.

The pump is driven by the combustion engine of the machine beside, coupled both by a belt we clearly see on the picture
