Grass paver lanes for a two-tracked vehicles (motorcars) so that the tires always run on the paving. There might be sand, ground, grass, pavers, asphalt, etc. in between them. This is sometimes additionally tagged with surface:middle=*. Note that if you tag a single-tracked way you just use grass_paver, since there are no lanes.

You can specify smoothness=* to indicate the quality. Mostly it is bad. For cycling or for any vehicles with smaller or thinner wheels than regular car tires its very uncomfortable.

Beside casual use on driveways, parking areas or agriculture ways, this was - and is still in place and part of the historic monument - the standard paving on the east german border side at the former iron curtain for the so called "Kolonnenweg".
