A converter transformer is a special transformer used in HVDC converter plants (substation=converter). It is always located directly adjacent to the valve hall.

Such transformer only step-up voltage as to convert alternative current to direct current in downstream valve hall. frequency=* should get the appropriate AC frequency used in the area and you won't get direct current on the secondary interface.

Their particular role require to mostly use wye-delta windinds configuration. This lead to use windings:primary:configuration=star + windings:secondary:coniguration=delta in OSM.

Voltage tagging

If the voltage of the valve side is unknown it is sufficient to tag the AC switchgear side voltage with voltage:primary=*.
