Handling of file formats

I wish to see some advices about how to handle various file formats of survey data that can be given out by various potential sources. I know that some komes in shape-files, which already are well documented, have several converters, and many scripts already fully supports the files as is. But I also know that much data is handled as .dwg Auto-CAD formats, and there are probably many more. Formats that are xml based can all be converted with any scripts that can manipulate texts, but there are also alot of formats that use binary formats for storage. --Skippern 05:12, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

References to this utility should be deleted as it appears to be obsolete! SK53 10:31, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I gave it a wee rewrite. Not sure if the perl script is "obsolete", but it would need to be recoded to work with changesets -- Harry Wood 11:33, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Merge with Import

Thinking purely about titles of wiki pages, it's confusing that this page exists alongside the information on Import and Import/Guidelines. I've linked them near the top now, but I think maybe we should merge this page into one or both of those. -- Harry Wood 11:11, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
