Attributions

What is the source of https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Esri&diff=prev&oldid=1501510 and https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Esri&diff=prev&oldid=1502047 ? I see no attribution requirements in https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=8e90a00a0a6845a49262e0b756f57a10

It is good practice to provide source, but it is not part of "Legal permissions" Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:22, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

I have no idea. My edit was to relax the requirement imposed by the previous editor. I too haven't see the legal requirement. --Zverik (talk) 06:34, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

What is the source of "Interested in using Esri World Imagery in your own application?" section?

Where I can confirm this requirements?

For example note that using Esri imagery for OSM mapping is not requiring attribution according to https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=8e90a00a0a6845a49262e0b756f57a10 (for legal reasons, it is still good practice to mention source of data).

Section was added in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Esri&diff=next&oldid=1502047 edit

the 'interested in Using Esri World Imagery section is a paraphrased version of https://github.com/esri/esri-leaflet#terms. I added it to the wiki after we fielded a handful of emails from developers interested in using the imagery in non-OSM editing applications.

Thank you for a reply! I attempted to clarify page to make more obvious that this terms can be used by any developer, not only OSM focused and that terms for OSM editing are even better Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:26, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Esri Image Quality

Hello,

does anyone else have an issue with the image quality of Esri at the moment? Usually they seem fine but right now i am just getting clouds and noisy upscaled flights that aren't really useful, but only in the highest zoom level, before it seems fine.

Pics:

Zoomed out just a little bit, everything seems fine

Zoomed in all the way, seems just like clouds

Kind regards --Martinum4 (talk) 18:30, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, you'll probably get more replies on one of our discussion platforms, such as the Forum (there's a German subforum as well). Most people only visit the wiki talk pages to discuss topics directly related to the wiki, e.g. changing the content of some wiki page. --Tordanik 19:41, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Is it OK to take picture of Esri aerial imagery and use it in tutorial?

For example in documentation how features are mapped - Esria aerial imagery + overlaid geometry how objects would be mapped. See https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/704832584328151040/840436787398180874/dualCarriageCross.png?width=1031&height=597 as an example.

Esri and its imagery contributors grant Users the non-exclusive right to use the World Imagery map to trace features and validate edits in the creation of vector data.
Except for the additional limited rights granted above, any and all other uses of the World Imagery map remain subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Esri Master Agreement or Terms of Use, as applicable. Esri and its imagery contributors retain all right, title, and interest in and to their respective imagery data contributed to the World Imagery map.

Seems to depend on how "validate edits in the creation of vector data" would be interpreted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But in general such use would be likely allowed under fair use/fair dealing anyway, even if not allowed by Esri - right? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:07, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Template:Esri image

Hello! Could anyone look at the new Template:Esri image? I have created it just now and I would appreciate if you could check form and content and give me a feedback, before I place it on image files. --Chris2map (talk) 09:23, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

{{ping|Chris2map} I am not entirely sure whether we actually can keep Esri imagery on Wiki - but marking Esri images with such template is definitely a good idea. The template itself can be edited as needed Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:13, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
