Owner wikidata

Whilst using the data we had problems with different spellings of Council names in the owner field. We could of course just build in some fuzzy matching and/or keep an eye on the values and update OSM to be consistent. Could/should there be a owner:wikidata tag similar to brand:wikidata for shop chain ownership? Jnicho02 (talk) 13:04, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

I don't see why not. Use of operator:wikidata and owner:wikidata tags could be useful, as sites are often owned by the local authority but the running of them is contracted out to the likes of Veolia, FCC Environment, etc. All the councils should have Wikidata tags (eg but perhaps not all of the private operators will. --Paul Berry (talk) 13:45, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
