Cannot find the updated info on switch2osm.org

The warning added by User:MaZderMind directs the reader to the switch2osm.org web site. I was unable to find the updated information there.

It would be useful to replace the link in the warning with a link to a specific page on switch2osm.org where the information is provided. Zstadler (talk) 11:55, 10 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

You can go to this page: https://switch2osm.org/serving-tiles/building-a-tile-server-from-packages/ And there you need to to the "Updating" section. It would be great if there was an anchor on that part of the page, to have a direct link. Mayeul (talk) 16:14, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The "from packages" guide is very out of date now (and doesn't work with recent releases). For now I'd I'd suggest looking at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:SomeoneElse/Ubuntu_1604_tileserver_load#Updating_your_database_as_people_edit_OpenStreetMap or https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:SomeoneElse/Ubuntu_1804_tileserver_load#Updating_your_database_as_people_edit_OpenStreetMap for the relevant information. It'd be nice to have that in a separate "switch2osm" guide, actually. If someone wants to volunteer such a page either in Wordpress formatting for switch2osm.org or Markdown for https://github.com/switch2osm/switch2osm.github.io I'm sure it would be positively received. --SomeoneElse (talk) 16:46, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
