Produce=* for works and factories?

Re: "Note: If the product is natural such as oysters or plums the mapper is advised to use the key produce=*"

Is this really correct? I don't believe produce=* has been used for works and factories. I'm removing this line. --Jeisenbe (talk) 04:59, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

I've added "human manufactured" to the main description to clarify that this tag is used for industry and factories, not for minearl resources, agricultural produce or crops.

Description 'The output or product that a feature (such as a factory) produces.'

It may be better to remove the word 'produces' in order to reduce the confusion with the produce=*? Possible replacement 'makes'??? Warin61 (talk) 23:50, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

singular or plural?

Should product be in singular or plural? product=brick or product=bricks? maro21 18:15, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Umm I think product=brick. Those more versed in English rules might have more to say? I'll ask on the tagging group. I note that taginfo has bricks as more popular. Warin61 (talk) 09:31, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
I had thought about that myself. There isn't enough usage for either one compared to the other to say there's a clear favorite and I'm pretty impartial on it myself. Bricks sounds better, but then no other product seems to be in plural form. Except product=electronics. So, probably the best thing to do would be to ask the mailing list. --Adamant1 (talk) 10:21, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

product=machinery when output is machinery?

This page has: "product=machinery when output is machinery" which suggests this factory makes machines.

Tag:product=machinery, on the other hand, seems to define the tag as a replacement deprecating "industrial=machine_shop"?

Is the idea to make actual machines or just to use machines to make other stuff? carlb (talk) 00:54, 21 December 2022 (UTC)

Correct: "product=machinery when output is machinery" means this factory makes machines. I have corrected the wiki page for industrial=machine_shop Warin61 (talk) 09:00, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
