surveillance:zone=residential

Many residential areas have CCTV installed by local authorities to keep an eye on their citizens. I've recently been adding some of these cameras to the map and I've been using this tag. If no one objects, I'll update the wiki with this.

I don't feel that =town really fits as it's not a town center scenario, these are residential areas with little commercial activity.

Should "area" and "street" be documented values or should they be discouraged?

They have 7.2% and 5.3% of usage which is non negligible.

"street" would be a merge of "traffic" and "town" right? And should not be used because it's ambiguous.

No idea for "area".

Just stumbled upon a camera mapped (using iD) with surveillance:zone=area. I can't see any use for this tag, all surveillance is for an "area". I'll move mark it as non-recommended.
As for surveillance:zone=street, I too agree that it isn't needed when we already have surveillance:zone=town and surveillance:zone=traffic. --Gileri (talk) 18:52, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
