one feature = one object

This property on a highway or waterway can coexist with explicitly mapped tree rows or individual trees, as it indicates a property of the feature. You should not remove any of these objects or tags simply because there are explicitly mapped trees or the property on the road (or waterway)

Adding trere_lined when the highway is bordered by a mapped tree row has NO added value. I suggest to reprocess the database if you want to use this derivated feature on highways mapped with parallel tree rows. --Nospam2005 (talk) 18:54, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

You cannot deduct from trees near a road if these are part of the road or not (i.e. part of the neighbouring land). The concept of tree lined implies that the trees are part of the road (purposefully planted for the road). —Dieterdreist (talk) 23:54, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
tree_lined=* is a property on the road, not reperesenting a feature. -- Kovposch (talk) 04:07, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

redirects to German natural=tree_row page

If I select the German version, I am being redirected to natural=tree_row which doesn't mention tree_lined, only at the very bottom: "tree_lined=* ist veraltet, bitte statt dessen tree_row verwenden". Generally I find such a tag to be useful, for example tree-lined roads are dangerous to drive on during glaze (Glatteis), so the information is relevant. Theoretically it could be derived from fuzzily from nearby tree rows, but on the other hand, bridge=yes could also be derived by surrounding man_made=bridge etc, it is convenient to have this tag on the road itself as well because it (can) directly affect the driving conditions. --Westnordost (talk) 16:20, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes I know, I have notified the German community about the new page for tree_lined but apparently nobody has picked this up yet. —Dieterdreist (talk) 19:10, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
What do you think, there are also redirects for other languages, maybe it would be best to simply delete these redirects as they are not up to date with the English version? This would maybe also notify those editors of these languages who do the translations that there is a missing page... —Dieterdreist (talk) 19:13, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
