When is it a memorial?

When does a historic=tank (cannon / aircraft / vehicle etc) also become a War Memorial?

If they are ex-military item, are they always assumed to be a Memorial?

Or would it be depend on where it's located e.g. outside a Returned Servicemen's club, in a local Memorial Park, military establishment etc? e.g

Depreciate tag war_memorial=yes ?

JOSM and iD presets don't recognize this key and it is rarely used.

I think it should be depreciated.

A tag should not be deprecated just because it is rarely used.

I agree with Something B, also this tag had an increase in usage since Sep 2022 (when this page was created) and seems like the tag is growing : taginfo
While war_memorial=* is not the best solution, memorial=war_memorial and memorial:type=* are what should be deprecated in the long term. --- Kovposch (talk) 04:00, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
