Page deletion

I would support the deletion. No benefit of the page. --Gormo (talk) 13:56, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the response! Could you update the delete proposal to a delete request and blank the page? --Chris2map (talk) 18:08, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

With Trump just issuing an EO in the last few hours to change the US official name to "Lake America", seems this page now has a reason to exist to document OSM's policy on such, as on the Gulf of Mexico page. It's already been changed once already. CAM-Gerlach (talk) 19:39, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Linked this thread, sadly this page is now useful. Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:20, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
As it seems we've reached consensus in the thread and the discussion has settled down, I've updated the page to reflect that. I replaced your temporary comment with a more detailed, definitive explanation of the OSM community conventions and consensus, based on and closely following the Name section of the Gulf of Mexico page. Additionally, I've added a similar standard note as on the latter page directly linking the actual relation to make it easier to find (it was not referenced anywhere before), additional fields to the infobox including a link to the forum thread there, and a short section listing the countries and states/provinces it borders (both of which the latter page also has) to help support and reference the naming consensus. Of course, any fixes, tweaks and improvements welcome! CAM-Gerlach (talk) 02:11, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot! --Gormo (talk) 20:31, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
