I don't see the point of the 'official' note? Inclined to remove. What gives a comms channel an 'official' status? Just being hosted on osm.org? Doesn't make any difference for the content? Martijn van Exel (talk) 17:18, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Every community/organization has some "official" communication channels to guide new people on where they can communicate with existing contributors. If you check the relevant page for OSM, you'll see IRC and XMPP to be listed. There is no consensus at the moment for adding Slack to that list. -Comzeradd (talk) 17:29, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
