Sustainability

Over 70% of grant will be spend on hosting. What will happen after grant runs out? How it will be funded? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

- Since the app is voluntary in nature, we will fund the application ourselves. Coming from our own allowances/salary etc. --ronxronquillo

Hosting

Why this expensive hosting is needed at all? I would either query overpass turbo and cache answers, build data into app and update it be releasing new version or host dataset on some free or nearly free hosting site (Github Pages?) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

- The application we are building is using both Front End and Back End technologies. API code built using Java, PHP, etc doesn't work well with Github pages. Aside from OSM, we plan to include uploaded images of the bike parkings.

Cost, the cost as you can see is at 696 Euros per year. This is in line with the estimate of hosting 1-2 API servers (Google App Engine or Google Compute Engine) that can support 15,000 active users with peak requests at estimated 13 API calls / second during office hours.

Github pages is usually used as Front End facing application.. The contents of Github pages are usually static in nature. -- ronxronquillo

License of produced work is not mentioned. See https://choosealicense.com/ Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

- We will be open-sourcing the project, hosting it via Gitlab or Github. This is in line with the guidelines of the Microgrant Eligibility Criteria. We will take note of the link you have mentioned for the specifics. :-) -- ronxronquillo
