Offices of Taiwan

Examples currently include: "American Institute in Taiwan, Taipei, Taiwan" and "Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, Washington, D.C." - but can't you get a visa from the USA to Taiwan or from Taiwan to the USA at one of these "offices?" Don't they have "de facto" status as embassies between their respective sovereign and independent governments? I know that the USA does not official recognize the government of Taiwan, but isn't this a "de facto" embassy? Why call it a liaison office when it functions just like an embassy under a different name? --Jeisenbe (talk) 03:18, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
