Would anybody care to distinguish this from landuse=farm? When should one be used over the other? --inas (talk) 06:06, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

See my explanation below, in Proposal? --naoliv (talk) 19:27, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Proposal?

Was there a proposal for this tag?

From the definition here it seems that place=farm is almost the same as adding a name=* to landuse=farmyard or to a building=farm.

Or do you see any difference? Chrabros (talk) 08:18, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

A place=farm can be an area that consists of a landuse=meadow and/or landuse=farmyard and/or landuse=farmland and/or landuse=orchard and/or you name it. It should be similar to a place=city with its different landuses, building, etc. --naoliv (talk) 19:27, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Farm main office building

Say how to tag the farm main office building please. Jidanni (talk) 16:00, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

That would be building=farm. --Pbb (talk) 19:10, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Research farms

I propose adding the following to the page as an expanded method to tagging research farms

Research Farms

In addition to regular named farms, this tag is used to represent research farms, tracts of land often owned by a university, laboratory, or government agency for the purpose of agricultural research.

place=farm

farm=research - Used to specify that the farm is a research farm.

name=* - The name of the farm

research=* - Used to specify the specific research focus.

operator=* - Specify what agency operates the research farm.
