Template talk:Reply to
Does this template work?
Does this actually work? I've recently been "pinged" using this template in this discussion and didn't notice any effect. @Tigerfell: has reported similar issues on that talk page. --Tordanik 15:28, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Languages (translations of documentation)
Hello @Minh Nguyen! User Omotecho wants to translate the template to Japaneese and asked me how to. Could you please add {{Language}} to /doc so there will be a linking to the translations? Thanks and regards, Chris2map (talk) 14:02, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Chris2map: Done. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 10:12, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

- thank you both for crisp support, and forgive me replying late. Chris2map, could you please have a look on Template:Reply_to/ja? One thing I find not clear is that I copied the page to /ja page, then a warning has appeared on/ja page as:
- Warning: Default sort key "JA:Reply to/doc" overrides earlier default sort key "Reply to/doc".
- Is there any parameter or such I need to delete/comment out? Hope nothing wide spread error invoked throughout OSM... Cheers, --Omotecho (talk) 09:39, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

- I also always get this insertion on my translations of templates into German. It has also bothered me and I have tried to find the cause, but I haven't got any further. One of the templates behind {{Documentation subpage}} seems to create it. As far as I know, it doesn't matter, it's supposed to be information, but it's primarily annoying in this massive form. At the moment I ignore the message. --Chris2map (talk) 10:16, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Please unblock
Minh Nguyen, could remove cascading block for this page? "This page has been protected from editing because it is transcluded in the following pages, which are protected with the "cascading" option turned on: Template:Reply to". I wanted to edit Template:Documentation but I can't becuase this page is blocked. maro21 21:36, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Maro21: It's a very high-visibility template, as is {{Documentation}}. That template is also transcluded on some interface messages that have to be cascading-protected. Could you edit the sandbox for now and post an edit request when you're ready? Thanks for understanding. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 01:54, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Minh Nguyen: Cascade-protecting templates is usually not a great idea. If you think {{Documentation}} is a high-visibility template, protect it on its own, but the current cascade-protection protects more than what is necessary to avoid changing transclusions: the
<noinclude>
part, including {{Documentation}}, and, more importantly, Template:Reply to/doc (whose purpose is exactly to remain freely editable) doesn’t affect how the template looks like when transcluded, yet it’s protected by the cascade-protection. You can also protect the interface messages in question instead of the template: that will protect the transcluded parts (Template:Reply to and Module:Reply to) but leave the untranscluded parts, like the documentation, unprotected. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 07:51, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

- I just wanted to fix categories. If you could move pages from Category:Template documentation to Category:Template documentation pages I will be grateful and the unblock won't be necessary. maro21 19:21, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi and Maro21: OK, my mistake. I've removed the cascading protection from Template:Reply to, Template:Editnotice load, Template:Editnotice, Template:Noarticletext, and Template:Protected, and individually protected as many of the specific parts of those templates as I could find. Some conditionally transcluded templates probably became unprotected as a result, but hopefully they're rare enough that vandalism won't be a major issue with them. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 23:11, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
