[[Category:Users in your city|Omotecho]]

--Omotecho 08:06, 24 October 2020 (UTC)

Template edits

Please, check some uses of template after you edit it. You adding of {{Languages|Template:Ping}} directly into ping template caused this language panel to display withing text in every place where this template was used (also, are we even translating templates?) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:19, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

thank you for important instruction. Are we not translating templates then? That's a sad news if we respect i18n... --Omotecho 21:18, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
I admit that I am not sure about this. Many templates have autodetection of language, with reused logic. Separate template for each language would mean that any technical change in template logic would need to be copied manually to all templates what seems a poor idea to me. Maybe redirects to the English name of template would be a good idea? Though maybe text templates without any logic may be OK to copy into other languages? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 22:55, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Right, sounds a logic thinking to me, and could I ask for one more advice? Could you think of any Template which will encourage making maps (multilingual) much easier? My motive for translation is based in that, and appreciate if you would point me to one or two. You know, Machine Translation is not best matched to double byte languages, and Japanese language has not fit to MT for almost 20+ yrs however developers have tried so badly...
Looking at the big picture, maybe I am spoiled with Translation extension. Perhaps we lack resources as translation admins; when you create a local language page, that extension prompts you any changes made in root texts/English, but that happens only when admins push such update in English as sources to translate. Ouch, how lucky I have been using them (: -- Omotecho 00:09, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Notice: If you want to use separate JA Template you have to write {{Template:JA: ... }}, e.g. {{Template:JA:Inuse}}:

But I suggest to use the common / international / english templates an add translation string there. --Chris2map (talk) 21:25, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Chris2map, hi, nice talking to again. As I see the latest version for ping/reply template, I am not sure how we introduce translation string there. In contrast, for the other Inuse template you have pointed out, I guess I followed how translation is regularly added. How do we add translation string to ping/reply, I mean, does an admin arrange and add {{{language...}}} parameter by request? Maybe I will forget about it as my tech-fluency is not achieving what is required to. Cheers, Omotecho (talk) 13:24, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I asked Minh Nguyen (Template_talk:Reply_to) for adding {{Language}}. Cheers, Chris2map (talk) 14:07, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Hello, noted that language template has been added. Thank you both for crisp support! Cheers, Omotecho (talk) 22:16, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
