Welcome

For the first Quarterly Project of 2024 we will be focusing on Fixmes, Notes and Notes. We have ran similar Quarterly Projects before, see UK Quarterly Project/2023/2023 Q1 Project: Fixmes and Notes and UK 2019 Q4 Project: Fixmes and Notes.

Finding Notes

Websites

Did you know?

Instead of monitoring notes for the whole country, OSM.org has feeds for notes in specific areas, you can specify a bounding box and get notified whenever a note changes. eg Isle of Wight

You can filter to specific phrases that interest you, eg footpaths or onosm.org or even with images.

Fixmes

Fixmes are tags on existing OSM objects. fixme is the most common tag, but there are others. These are often asking for things to be traced once there is imagery available, others have data that can be moved to better tags.

The number of objects tagged with fixme=*, and how this has changed over time can be seen at https://taginfo.geofabrik.de/europe:united-kingdom/keys/fixme#chronology

Objects tagged with fixmes can be found using several different tools, including:

Other ways to help

When reviewing notes, you may appreciate the utility and value of streetlevel imagery. If you have the ability to update or provide imagery in your area, it helps all contributors.
