I have used TileMill and Mapnik to create a custom map style for leisure activities (walking, hiking, cycling, horse riding) in Great Britain that shows relevant features (including public rights of way defined in the OpenStreetMap database by the Designation tag) and uses the OSGB projection (EPSG:27700) and British National Grid. You can find the files for this map style in the 'gb-leisure-carto' repository on Github.

Previously I created a Maperitive ruleset with similar objectives, but I have found TileMill and Mapnik to be more powerful and they support the OSGB projection. However, you can still find the ruleset in the 'uk-leisure-maperitive' repository on Github.
