I’m Laura, a Geospatial engineer passionate about using open technology and open data to create positive change. I currently work at Ushahidi as a an implementation officer.
My Journey with OpenStreetMap started in 2017 as a contributor and has grown from that to community building. In 2018 together with fellow volunteers, I co-created the OSM community in Kenya and volunteered as the community coordinator till 2022. I also served as a YouthMappers regional ambassador from 2019 to 2022, supporting student-led and faculty-mentored university clubs in East and Central Africa.
I also volunteer with the OpenStreetMap Africa community to organize community activities such as the OSM Africa Monthly Mapathon and the State of the Map Africa conference.
