Key element for mapping the accessibility

Path

In this category, the elements considered are pedestrian or cyclo-pedestrian paths, mainly sidewalks.

These elements are mainly mapped as highway=footway/path/pedestrian.

Element Key Values Description
State of the surface smoothness good, intermediate or bad
Width width <number> m Width of the sidewalk in meters.
Inclination incline <number>% Inclination of the sidewalk in %
Transversal inclination incline:across <number>% Transversal inclination of the sidewalk
Height of the sidewalk height <number> m Height of the sidewalk with respect to the level of the street
Lighting lit yes/no Presence of lighting on the street
Surface surface paved/asphalt/paving_stones/sett Material of the surface of the path

Crossing

For every intersection of the sidewalks with the street.

Element Key Values Description
Kerb kerb flush The kerb arrive at the same level of the street.
lowered The kerb not arrive at the same level of the street, it is considered lowered if the maximum height is 2.5 cm (for the italian law).
raised The kerb not arrive at the same level of the street, it is considered raised if height is bigger than 2.5 cm (for the italian law)
kerb:height <number> m Height of the kerb
Tactile pavement tactile_paving yes/no
Intersection with tactile pavement.
Intersect with different surface tactile_paving

(+ blind:description:en)

primitive / contrasted
Intersect with different surface
Acoustic signalling at traffic lights traffic_signals:sound yes/no
Lighting lit yes/no Presence of lighting on the crossing

Obstacles

The mapping of obstacles is complex and can be simplified using all the tags for the path.

Element Key Values Description
Element that create the obstacle Element that create the obstacle restricting the width of the path. Like a pole, planter, tree, drain or traffic_sign
Maximum width maxwidth:physical <number> m Width of the path in the proximity of the obstacle.
Desciption of the obstacle obstacle:description <text> Descriptio of the obstacle (faculty but can better explain the real situation)
Height from the ground height <number> m Height of the obstacle from the ground.
