Tarek Wasfy is a software developer and the developer of PyMapStitcher, a cross-platform maps downloader and tile-stitching application.

Other map-stitching software developed by Wasfy includes Supreme Maps Downloader and Frame Map Downloader.

He studied chemistry in Aachen at the RWTH Aachen University.

In addition to software development, Wasfy carries out independent remote-sensing and mapping projects using satellite imagery and geospatial data. These projects include the identification and mapping of archaeological and potentially archaeological stone structures, particularly mustatils, cairns, pendants and tombs in Saudi Arabia.

His remote surveys include the mapping of the Al Badi archaeological landscape and the wider group of structures initially documented as the Wasfy Mustatils Complex. One of the most prominent mapped features is the pyramid-like structure known as the Wasfy Pyramid. The name refers to the apparent pyramidal shape of the feature and does not imply a confirmed archaeological classification.

Wasfy is also the developer of Mustatil, an AI-powered geospatial analysis application for large satellite and remote-sensing imagery that supports object detection, annotation, model training, segmentation and GIS-ready export.
