Bonjour Saintam1,

Merci! Saintam1 (talk) 14:40, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Do you have an idea how and Category:Screenshots of notification mails in general should be licensed? What is the license of avatar image present there? Does interface of software visible there matters? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:13, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

@Mateusz Konieczny: Hello! I don't remember which software's rendering of the scream emoji this is. The various interfaces shown are screenshots of proprietary software (Outlook, Windows Mail, Apple Mail, Yahoo! Mail, etc); I don't know what the copyright status of such screenshots is. Apparently Microsoft allows screenshots of its software to be used, but that seems to suggest that unless a company allows it, screenshots might not be freely publishable.
These files are not needed anymore. They're a record of past work, but if we ever do more work on the email templates, we'll need new screenshots anyway, these ones wouldn't provide any new information. We could just delete them.
Let me know what you think. Thanks for taking the time to look into this. Saintam1 (talk) 22:07, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
I would consider simply deleting Dressed-up Notification Mails and files in Category:Screenshots of notification mails to avoid investigating legal situation, as while it was useful (and congratulations on effort to implement this feature properly!) it is not really needed anymore. I am not sure about value of keeping it Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 04:24, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
@Mateusz Konieczny: Yes I agree it's not needed anymore. I'll delete all the screenshot images. If you agree I'll leave the wiki page there, for the historical record, but with a note saying "screenshots have been deleted". It might be useful to refer back to it next time me modify the email templates.
@Mateusz Konieczny: What's the correct procedure for deletion? I've labelled for deletion, can you have a look and confirm whether that's the right approach? Then I'll do all the other images. Thanks! Saintam1 (talk) 11:05, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
Yes, that works well! Due to large number of images I would consider just adding note "and please delete all other files in Category:Screenshots of notification mails for the same reason to avoid placing "{{delete|Contains screenshots of proprietary software, which might constitute copyright infringement. The screenshot was used while working on the email templates, and is no longer needed. See discussion at [[User_talk:Saintam1#Licensing]]|lang=en}}" on every single page Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:29, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
OK I've updated the message at I'll check back in a couple days if the admins haven't deleted it. Thanks! Saintam1 (talk) 11:48, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
Note that files routinely wait month or two for deletion, so such quick check is likely not going to result in changes Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 22:15, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
One screenshot has been deleted, I've added a request for deleting the rest here: User_talk:Tigerfell#Deletion_of_all_email_screenshots Saintam1 (talk) 09:06, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
@Mateusz Konieczny: looks like all the screenshots have been deleted now.
