Voting

Don't hesitate to vote on your own proposal ;-) --Dieterdreist (talk) 10:45, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

food_sharing

Hi.

Considering your proposal about "food sharing", when can we consider it's "accepted" by community ?

I'd like to update https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_CircularEconomy with this new tag.

Regards,

Christian

Hello @Chris-ren:
Thanks for your interest in food_sharing. (I am a fan of your project by the way. :D )
Currently there are still some open points ("Tag name is slightly misleading", "amenity -> social_facility", "Document public refrigerators") where I have no answer. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Proposed_features/food_sharing
I think it also need more clearness between the European give boxes and food sharing and the American food pantry and blessing boxes phenomenon. Currently I working on that.
There is also an ongoing general discussion in the tagging email list about amenity and social_facility.
I want to give the community (and myself) more time. I do not want the same mess I have with amenity=give_box.
Currently I have no plans for starting the voting. I need more clearness.

piano

Hello, I came across the page for amenity=piano created by you, have added two in Ireland and have tweeted about it. However, there is no proposal page, just the status "proposed". Did you ever think about creating one? I personally think that leisure=piano would be better than amenity=piano, to be honest. And according to its Talk page, I'm not the only one. B-unicycling (talk) 18:49, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello @B-unicycling: I'm glad you're interested in this tag and want to support documenting public pianos. I have none plans to create a proposed page for this. I just document something that other mappers do: https://github.com/brunetton/OpenPianosMap in the hope that more people document pianos. I agree with you that leisure=piano fits better. Feel free to create a proposal according to your ideas. ToastHawaii (talk) 15:00, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Since there was never a proposal page, the status is probably better described as "in use" rather than "proposed". B-unicycling (talk) 21:04, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

OSM Apps Catalog

https://weeklyosm.eu/archives/18354 linked to https://osm-apps.org/ which doesn't seem to have contact info on it other that a link here, so I'm asking here:

What actually is it supposed to be for? How are things submitted? How are things removed (for example, it still contains an entry for "Potlatch 2" which has not been a thing for many years)?

Perhaps a forum post to discuss what it is would help? SomeoneElse (talk) 12:54, 4 January 2026 (UTC)

I have created a forum post to discuss about the OSM Apps Catalog. Have a look here.
But I will answer about the Potlatch 2 entry (https://osm-apps.org/?app=119534599) directly:
The data is automatically loaded from Wikidata (http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q165598) and wiki.osm.org (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Potlatch%202). I have plans to ignore apps that are archived in the wiki (See this issue) and I want to support the "dissolved, abolished or demolished date" prop from wikidata to ignore apps (See this issue).
I know about this bug and have plans to fix it, so please be patient.
There are other ways to remove apps from the Osm Apps Catalog. I describe them here. --ToastHawaii (talk) 18:41, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
