Hi Yzuio,

I noticed that you created a translated page https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Zh-hans:Key:ref:US-WA:PCOGD:AP_ID. I created the original wiki page to document a key I was using for some address data conflation in a specific region. Do you think that a translation is necessary / useful in this case, and why? I apologize for this—I was using an AI agent for bulk processing, and it mistakenly translated several pages that shouldn't have been translated, including this one. You are completely right that a translation for this specific page isn't necessary or useful here.

Avoid translating all templates

Hi Chris2map, thanks for letting me know. I stopped the AI agent from translating templates about half hour ago. I will manually review each affected template page and replace the redirects/usages with the correct templates, so that these unnecessary templates are no longer used. All 208 templates created on 2026-10-06 were autogenerated. I have reviewed the whole batch: none of them is used by any page, most are untranslated mirrors, and 12 are broken redirects. I have now added a deletion proposal to every one of them (they are all listed under the category Zh-hans:Deletion Proposed), so they can all be deleted.

I understand your concern that they were created as part of a mass, undiscussed edit. However, I believe the vast majority of these pages themselves are not problematic. They are valid translation pages for corresponding English tags, and deleting them would remove useful content for Chinese-speaking users.

For pages that are correct, I do not think deletion is the right approach. The original mass creation was indeed not discussed, and I have already stopped the AI agent and committed to reviewing the affected pages manually. But the solution should be to fix the process, not to remove pages that are otherwise fine.

If there are specific pages among them that are wrong, empty, or misleading, I am happy to review and nominate those for deletion individually. But a blanket deletion of all mass-created non-template pages would, in my view, do more harm than good. Yzuio (talk) 10:25, 8 October 2026 (UTC)

Thanks. After thinking about it, I have decided to review the pages manually. I will personally check every page to ensure quality, rather than relying on a bot rerun or a blanket deletion. I have also consulted the OSM wiki CN community, and they advised me to do this manual review. This means the process will likely take a very long time, so a very long waiting period should be expected. I am sorry for that, but I think quality and correctness are more important here. The AI agent will remain inactive during this period. If there are specific pages that are clearly wrong, empty, or misleading, please point them out and I will prioritize reviewing those first. I would also ask that we avoid any mass deletion or mass recreation until the manual review is complete and the results have been discussed with the community.
