railway=narrow_gauge is used for passenger or freight trains on narrower tracks than the typical gauge considered for the country or a railway network, often tourist routes or mine railways. This implies that it is a less common value than railway=rail.

You are highly encouraged to use gauge=* to specify the actual track width of rails. If you don't know the exact gauge, just use gauge=narrow.

Narrow gauge railways can have mainline railway service like the Rhaetian Railway in Switzerland or can be a small light industrial railway.

For railways that carry miniature scale-model trains like those found in parks, railway=miniature is used instead.
For tracks of a roller coaster roller_coaster=track is used instead.
