A
Hospice is a facility providing both, permanent palliative and nursing care, 24 hours a day, to dying or terminally or chronically ill people as well as support to their relatives. Thus it has a different focus in comparison with a nursing home.
OpenStreetMap has currently two methods to tag such facilities:
- the direct approach with
healthcare=hospice - the structured approach with
amenity=social_facility+social_facility=hospice
Related facilities
- The hub of an ambulatory nursing service, providing palliative and nursing care to patients living in their homes, can be tagged
amenity=social_facility+social_facility=ambulatory_care. Typically such hub is recognizable by a fleet of vehicles for the nurses on their daily visits. If they are specialised in palliative care only,social_facility:for=terminal_illcan be added. - A Hospice association, operating an office providing consultancy and support to relatives of terminally ill people, but no daily nursing, can be tagged as
office=hospice.
