The maintained tag is for specifying whether a feature is maintained. A further use could be to specify the name of the authority in charge of maintaining this feature.
Usage
- maintained=yes - This feature is maintained.
- maintained=no - This feature is not maintained.

- maintained= (name of authority in charge of maintaining route)
The default assumption for whether something is maintained is per feature dependant, for most natural features there is no assumed default.
History
After a period of unspecified use from 2012, it was brought to proposal in 2021 for natural=shrubbery or natural=scrub in Proposed features/shrubbery.
