Technologies for counting bicycles on roads, or bicycles and pedestrians along sidewalks or shared-use paths have progressed with the increased emphasis on the economic, environmental and social benefits of multi-modal traffic networks.

Bicycle counters with an optional display on site (totem/barometer with clock) are used to provide proof of the levels of cycling on a daily basis.
