Use this tag with amenity=school to document the type of a school. Values may be combined by semicolons.

Note, this is not for showing whether a school is a primary school, secondary school, high school etc., for that use some combination of school=*, isced:level=*, grades=*, min_age=* and max_age=*.

United Kingdom

The most common values in the UK are:

• school:type=academy for academies.
• school:type=alternative_provision for alternative provision schools.
• school:type=community for community schools.
• school:type=foundation for foundation schools.
• school:type=free for free schools.
• school:type=independent for independent schools, also known as private schools.
• school:type=special for special schools.
• school:type=studio_school for studio school.
• school:type=university_technical_college for University Technical College (UTC).
• school:type=voluntary_aided for voluntary aided schools.
• school:type=voluntary_controlled for voluntary controlled schools.
