Organised Editing/Activities/CartONG
Created in 2006 and based in Chambéry, CartONG is a French NGO specialized in the full range of Information Management expertise. CartONG’s main mission is to put data at the service of humanitarian, development and social action projects. We promote the sharing of data, tools and methods and methodologies usable and accessible to all and are committed to working in a spirit of collaboration and partnership for a sustainable impact.

CartONG uses the changeset comments #CartONG and #missingmaps in order to trace our projects.
Training materials and tools
CartONG holds remote sessions twice a week, these sessions are an opportunity to train new volunteers in remote mapping and editing tools in OSM.
CartONG has also produced its own training documentation (only available in French for now but soon in English).
For mapathons we mainly use the HOT Tasking Manager. Beginners start with iD editor but we encourage and train our volunteers in using JOSM by organizing regular JOSM training sessions.

Data quality control
In the past years, CartONG has built a team of experienced contributors. We meet during remote validation sessions once a week in order to verify the quality of the contributions produced during the mapathons. These sessions help improve the quality and consistency of OSM data whenever necessary.
CartONG has also added an extra step to the data contribution and validation process. Once the validation is 100% completed, we proceed to an overall validation of the entire mapping area. This additional step allows us to homogenize the data & tagging and to better organize the different elements that have been mapped, in particular the road and hydrographic networks.
