Philadelphia doesn't appear to be holding OpenStreetMap events on a regular basis. OpenStreetMap is a do-o-cracy, meaning that if you want something done, you're encouraged to jump in and do it! Pick a time, a place, and a theme for a mapping party and announce it on this page.
See tips for organizing OpenStreetMap events.
On March 15, 2014 a map-a-thon for food resources was held at the Nicetown-Tioga branch library. Over 15 people attended the event, representing the technical community, the urban farm community, and food justice groups. The activity began with a 30 minute training on how to use and edit OpenStreetMap. Participants then divided into groups to work on adding farmers markets, urban farms, CSAs, soup kitchens, and food banks to OpenStreetMap. The event was organized by Sterling Quinn, a graduate student at Penn State University.
Some previous mapping parties were held at Avencia offices:

Lots to do for each of these.
- University of Pennsylvania
- Drexel University
- Lehigh University
- Temple University
Need to add SEPTA lines, bus lines and rail/subway stations.
Need to add both cycling trails in the parks and the many bicycle lanes in the City. The wiki has details about how to edit cycling routes.
Parks and gardens
Philly has beautiful parks and a vibrant urban farming and gardening community. Please enrich these in the map. The Philly Fresh Food Map is an interactive online map that shows some of the farms and gardens that have been added to OpenStreetMap in Philadelphia. As of May 2015 it is being updated nightly.
Places of worship
Please add and tag local churches, especially those in historic buildings.
