Image and wikidata tags

image=* and wikidata=* really should not be listed as combination. This two tags can apply to every single object in the OSM database. But current "Current key/tag works well in combination with this key/tag." is not really excluding them. I propose to word it better. 12:17, 15 January 2020 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mateusz Konieczny (talkcontribs)

I disagree. They are useful and could be added by a bot to all tags where they combine well.--PangoSE (talk) 12:50, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
There seems to be some misunderstanding about how "combination=" is used. If you check a number of pages for popular tags, normally the list of tags in "combination=" are the most commonly used tags that are added to the feature, and in particular, tags that are unique to that feature. There isn't any need to add "wikipedia=", "wikidata=", "source=", "image=" to each one - especially because the last two are not really recommneded. --Jeisenbe (talk) 13:04, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
I disagree about source-tagging being not recommended. In my mapping of shelters and huts and hiking routes it is very often an external map that is the source for the particular route. Adding that url in a source tag is very helpful. Adding it only on the changeset is not that helpful because tools like JOSM does not automatically aggregate and show this information (you can only see it by pressing ctrl+h, and I'm not sure if it is clickable if an URL, which of course it should be). Also on particular trails it is hard to see where something come from if I have 4 layers active with trails/roads from different sources and add a lot of stuff in a changeset it becomes quite hard to find the source.
Additionally sometimes the external map of hiking routes have amenities listed that are not yet in OSM, and it is therefore very nice to be able to click on it from OsmAnd via the source= tag.--PangoSE (talk) 15:37, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Check out the wiki page Key:source - this tag was originally used on object, but it is now recommended to add this information to the changeset as a changeset tag, because the tags on objects are rarely maintained. Also, please be careful when copying from other maps. This is usually not allowed by the Openstreetmap license, which requires that all data sources are compatible with the ODbL - usually this is only true for public-domain maps and maps specifically released as public domain (e.g. by the US Government). Before using any data from a website, it is necessary to obtain explicit permisison. See How We Map and Legal_FAQ#2._Contributing. --Jeisenbe (talk) 02:58, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
