Usage
Proposal
A morgue or mortuary is a building or room (as in a hospital) used for the storage of human corpses awaiting identification, or removal for autopsy, burial, cremation or some other post-death ritual.
Rationale
It is a common structure in hospitals, or also as a detached building in big cities.
Examples
I have myself tagged two buildings as amenity=mortuary (or we could also choose =morgue) into "[Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Policlinico Paolo Giaccone]" in Palermo.

I would prefer the tag to be morgue, not mortuary. In some parts of the world, the word mortuary is used for a funeral home, not a morgue. We'd probably be better off picking the word with the one usage. DancingFool 08:14, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

- This tag amenity=mortuary is for a building used almost exclusively for practical non-ceremonial storage of dead people between the time of death and the time of ceremonial burial/cremation/etc. A "funeral home" on the other hand is generally a place (other than the similar religious place) where relatives say their last goodbyes and/or a business that assists in the arrangement of funerals. A typical sequence of events is : X dies in a hospital, X's dead body is transported to the hospital mortuary (amenity=mortuary on hospital grounds) to make room for living patients, X's dead body might be examined by experts, X's dead body is transported to the undertaker/embalmer/funeral home (shop=funeral_directors) or graveyard mortuary (amenity=mortuary on the grounds of a cemetery or place of worship) and placed in a more pretty/symbolic coffin/cloth, X's friends and relatives gather, X's dead body is presented and ceremonies held (at funeral home or place of worship), X's dead body is buried or cremated, X's soul is allowed to enter the afterlife.
