Problem Statement

There is no way to tag places that offer vrat, semi-sattvic, sattvic, jain, or jhatka diets. This may make it difficult for people who follow such diets to find an appropriate location to eat.

Proposal

vrat, semi-sattvic, semi-sattvic_buddhist Sattvic, jain, and jhatka tags are being proposed.

All of the proposed tags can be used on both nodes and areas.

Rationale

The tags will give mappers an option to tag a node or area with the semi-sattvic, sattvic, jain, or jhatka diet tag. The tags should have the key, diet, as the tags are dietary restrictions which someone may have regardless of cuisine.

Semi-sattvic, and jain diets are vegetarian diets with some restrictions on some foods. Jhatka is similar to shechita and dhabihah in kosher and halal, in that they are all methods of slaughter. Sattvic is the closest to halal and kosher, in that it has many dietary restrictions and rules that can not be simply summarized. Vrat, also called upvas is unique, it is food that is eaten during a fast. Venders may offer food for the vrat diet during specific days of the month, a couple of months and festivals.

All, but jhatka and vrat, tags are lacto-vegetarian. Semi-sattvic can eat Semi-sattvic_buddhist diet and Semi-sattvic_buddhist can eat jain diet, but the reverse is not possible.
