Proposal talk:Trail clearing

Good idea, now how do I start convincing the forest authorities to not close trails by trees on purpose? In Austria at many places pathes useful for mountainbiking will be blocked on purpose with fallen trees by forestry staff. I think dependant on where you live this tag may be very useful.--Extremecarver 12:21, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

This means that such map features can be used systematically to document and plan where forest authorities have and should block a trail, not the opposite as the intention of this tag should be. Either way, marking these points will be useful. -- vibrog 13:15, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm bit skeptic to this, even if I'm trail mapper myself. Should OSM really do this type of mapping? I understand that mapping some obstacles is ok, but making OSM into trail maintenance information system for authorities is overkill. My approach suggestion is to implement this as separate service (with OSM map as base) where you mark issues (position, type and message) with trails. This service can be made from a business perspective where authorities buy the service for their corresponding area. --Kslotte 11:45, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
