Proposed features/Key:bus guideway
|Definition:||Any piece of road that allows buses to be steered by external means|
This proposal is to create a key bus_guideway=* that can describe all forms of road infrastructure capable of allowing buses to be externally steered. This key would only be applied to ways with an existing highway=* tag that is routable for buses.
This key would have three possible values to describe the different technologies that exist for bus guidance:
|bus_guideway=optical||Optical guidance relies on the principles of image processing. A camera in the front of the vehicle scans the bands of paint on the ground representing the reference path.|
||Magnets are buried in the roadway, which a bus with sensors can use to form a reference path.|
|highway=busway + bus_guideway=kerb||On kerb-guided buses (KGB) small guide wheels attached to the bus engage vertical kerbs on either side of the guideway.||highway=bus_guideway|
