The tag describes land occupied by auto wreckers. An auto wrecker is an area set aside for the long-term disposal or recycling of wrecked vehicles. In the USA, one is also called a junkyard, junk yard or salvage yard. Also known as a scrapyard in British English.

These places sometimes offer the opportunity to buy parts from the junked cars.

Note: For scrap yards, places where steel scrap is sorted and processed, use industrial=scrap_yard! Those two tags are not synonymous.

How to map

Draw an area area around the grounds of the vehicle recycling or place a node node at the centre of the grounds.
