The tag amenity=marketplace is used to map a public marketplace where goods and services are traded daily or weekly.

The traditional market square is a city square where traders set up stalls and buyers browse the merchandise. This kind of market is very old, and countless such markets are still in operation around the whole world. In some places markets are held in buildings called market halls. Use amenity=marketplace for both of them (indoor and outdoor), and distinct by adding additional tags (see below).

Marketplaces may have also some permanent shops.

How to map

Set a node node or draw as an area area along the outline of the marketplace and add amenity=marketplace.

If the market only takes place on a place for parking cars at a few days map them as separate objects so that the properties like opening_hours=* can be unambiguously assigned.
