Status: in use

Barriers positioned along paths, footways, cycleways or tracks which serve to prevent motorcycle access. Often the intention is to still permit bicycle access, but in order to work, they have to be set too narrow to allow some bicycles and mobilty scooters, so the UK's Sustrans now discourages this design[1]. In the UK these are often manufactured by Fearn (Truck Bodies) Ltd or Centrewire.

How to map

Start by tagging barrier=motorcycle_barrier on a node that's part of an existing way to indicate where the barrier is.

You can also add maxwidth=* to make it clear what the maximum possible width of a bicycle trailer / pram etc. is.
