A dyke which also carries a road, railway. These objects cannot be tagged with both highway=*/railway=* in combination with man_made=dyke because of the OSM policy "one feature, one OSM element".

How to map

Draw a way and apply the correct highway=* or railway=* tag. If the embankment is a dyke, the use embankment=dyke, otherwise use embankment=yes.

When to use man_made=dyke

If there is no road/path or railway on top of the dyke, then use man_made=dyke. Also the line of the dyke should be drawn on the top of the dyke. If the road and the top of the dyke are at different locations, tag them seperately.

Examples

A dyke with a road on top. This is tagged with highway=* + embankment=dyke

A plain dyke with no highway on top. Tag this linear feature as man_made=dyke
