Status: proposed

Use passenger=local with railway=* on a way or route=* on a relation to mark a railway route with local passenger service.

Local railway

  • Connects towns to other small towns, villages etc, but without regional and long distance inter-city trains.
  • In Germany like RB (Regiolbahn) which stops at "local stops" in villages and small towns, tagged railway=rail
  • In North America, this tag is used on a wide variety of shorter-distance trains and trams including tourism, heritage or historic rail, monorails, and airport-style automated people-movers.
