Suburban railway

  • Connects the suburbs of city.
  • In Germany like S-Bahn.
  • In North America these are often known as "commuter" trains, distinct from longer-distance "regional" trains. Examples include California's MetroLink, Caltrain, ACE and SMART as well as Chicago's Metra, MBTA in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Réseau de transport métropolitain around Montreal, Quebec.
  • Requires railway=* or route=* - mainly used with railway=rail and railway=tram on ways, or also on route relations.
