A generation substation is a substation whose main function is to dispatch and/or transform a power plant's output for feed-in to the transmission network.

Voltage is traditionally step up with power transformers. They're usually called step up substations (605-01-04).
In those situations, we should map individual transformers with transformer=generator and indicate grid voltage with voltage:secondary=*.

Step-up substation on Aswan dam Egypt

area power=substation
substation=generation
location=outdoor
barrier=fence
voltage=500000

The 500 kV generation substation near the Aswan dam in Egypt is designed to step-up the voltage of power produced by the dam towards transmission network
Windpower generation substation France

area building=service
utility=power
power=substation
substation=generation
voltage=20000

Wind power delivery substations are designed to step up voltage from windmills and send it to distribution grids.
Offshore windpower generations substation Germany

area building=service
utility=power
power=substation
substation=generation
voltage=155000

Substations which gather power from offshore windmills are particular generation substation which step up voltage and send power on shore.
