This seems like a *very* bad idea. Who verifies whom? Locked from whom? Chillly 18:58, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Download/Upload compressed data

Firefishy states that "Server already supports HTTP compression. No need for gzip files." I can't find any published XAPI servers which actually compress the data.,38,-120.1,38.1 is not gzipped,38,-120.1,38.1 is not gzipped,38,-120.1,38.1 is not gzipped

I believe the compression supported by HTTP is not gzip. i.e. you must seek another decompressor. Second, that compression is supported in HTTP doesn't necessary mean it is activated. Still this should be handled by XAPI rather than in the default API. --Skippern 01:57, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
HTTP compression, is either gzip or deflate standard, according to wikipedia, the font of all knowledge in the 21st century. Either way, I'm not getting any compressed data from the servers. Either the XAPI should have a parameter to request a pre-compressed output, or the servers should have HTTP compression turned on. Tahongawaka 20:46, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Brainstorming ?

Frederiks initial stub for this page dates from Dec 2009. According to his first paragraph, he created it to trigger a brainstorming on the next generation OSM API. After a year of brainstorming, I feel that the page should move into something closer to a "plan" or a "specification" where emphasis is put on priorization and detailled description of features, which should go live with a next generation "API 0.7". Now, a further 1 year has passed and it should be time to move on. Is there a process or schedule to follow? How was it when version 0.6 was developed? --Magol 08:46, 30 March 2012 (BST)
We could rename the page "API v0.7 brainstorming" in order to make way for some more basic information without a list of random ideas on the "API v0.7" page -- Harry Wood (talk) 17:05, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
Totally agreed, and leave the API v0.7 empty for now (until we have a description page of how the api 0.7's final calls are, just like API v0.6 sletuffe (talk) 14:00, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
