What is the purpose of the OBDII module? Maybe someone could write up some information about why that is necessary. --B-jazz (talk) 16:22, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

My understanding is it detects when the vehicle moves (acceleration) or is stopped in order to pause/resume recording precisely. GPS in the camera can also be used. The Waylens is a camera with advanced deatures including having speed, RPM, etc. recorded in live video while filming under racing conditions (as per its original design) but this is not used in this context. --MagicFab
