@Katpatuka: "former Armenian names" - why "former"? Presumably Armenians still use this names in own language when speaking with each other Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 12:32, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

@Mateusz Konieczny: Well, there don't exist whatever signs showing Armenian written names or old greek names but in some districts one can also find Kurdish names on signs. There is only one village left over in Hatay province where the majority of inhabitants are Armenians. But Armenians had been living a long time in the Eastern part of Turkey during Ottoman times and before. And old names differ from nowadays used names - around 1960 they decided that place names whose origin were of foreign languages should get a new Turkish name...(!) Therefore I've used former ;) --katpatuka (talk) 12:58, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
@Katpatuka: Note that as long as names are actually used by Armenians they are not former Armenian names. Istanbuł is tagged at https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1882099475 despite not being signed as all as it is in active use by Polish speakers https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/418392093 has name:de=Breslau (it used to be ruled by Germany) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 07:30, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
If I find name:hy under the wikidatas' Q-id under the Wikipedia section of a settlement I add it assuming it being the current Armenian name. It happens that there's a second Armenian name which I then add under alt_name:hy or old_name:hy - see overpass query --katpatuka (talk) 11:36, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
