Talk:Key:training
training=professional
Valeriobozz, what is "professional"? There can be professional computer courses, professional drawing courses, professional language courses etc. There are a lot of professions. It's better to write what specifically one can learn. You can use semicolon separated values: training=a;b;c. Moreover, I listed here only the most common values (look at the name of the section), not all possible ones and training=professional has 0 uses. maro21 22:58, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Maro21: Having said this is a follow-up of Talk:Tag:amenity=school#How to map "professional schools"?, I'm open to suggestions. I'm trying to describe a POI offering various professional job-oriented courses. --Valeriobozz (talk) 09:39, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- For more context, the problem is that the courses of this POI range from "refrigerator repair technician" to "Linux systems engineer" and change every $x months basing on professional needs and demand and regional funds etc. What do you think about? --Valeriobozz (talk) 09:43, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- Think this is
isced:level=4. You could simply usetraining=engineering;computer;businessfirst. ---- Kovposch (talk) 10:25, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Training vs. School
Which is the difference between training=* and amenity=*_school? Davileci (talk) 22:53, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
training=*is a property, whileamenity=*_schoolis feature "as is". For example,amenity=trade_school&training=cooking. Something B (talk) 23:16, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
- How should a cooking school be tagged?
- As a cooking school "is a physical element in the landscape that can be mapped", a feature rather than a property should be used,
amenity=cooking_school. Davileci (talk) 06:03, 6 November 2023 (UTC amenity=schoolis school for pupils,amenity=collegeis college (cooking often isn't a college), I will prefer variant 2, but variants 1 and 3 also valid. Something B (talk) 07:59, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
Status
We have now status "in use" set in the wiki page and status "approved" set in the data item. I know that the Proposal:Training was rejected. But there is still approved Proposal:Training=bicycle. IMO if there is an approved use, the key is approved. Even if it is with only one value. The status of the key should be set to "approved". The list of the values on the page should clearly be marked as values / tags in use and not approved. What is your opinion on this? --Chris2map (talk) 20:26, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, this is procedure problem that should have been handled in that proposal. But can this be ignored now if
education=trainingis voted? Proposal:Education_tag
—— Kovposch (talk) 05:38, 15 May 2025 (UTC) - I think that this key is implicitly approved. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Key:training&diff=prev&oldid=2850895. Something B (talk) 07:29, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Kovposch and Something B: Thanks for statements! But I must say that I have difficulty finding any indication of the correct status from your sources. I don't understand what education has to do with this, nor do I see any evidence in the provided version comparison. The Proposal:Education_tag doesn't make any proposition about the key
training=*. And the status on the key page has been "in use" for almost the entire 4 years, not "approved." And the issue of the rejected proposal came up now. – I think we could/should keep it simple: The tagtraining=bicyclestill is approved. The newer proposal was rejected and therefore didn't and doesn't affect anything. If there is an approved tag, then the key as one component of the tag is approved, too. The description box that displays the status is about the key. --Chris2map (talk) 17:28, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

- The key was rejected by voting, and one specific tag was approved by voting but is virtually unused (19 uses worldwide). We do not have good status tags that would adequately reflect the situation, simply setting the key to approved would be a misrepresentation. I’d keep the specific tag approved and put a hint on the key documentation about this expection. —Dieterdreist (talk) 09:33, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
